Refunds and cancellations
Fresh meat is different from most things bought online, and the law treats it differently. Here is what that means in practice, and what we do on top.
Cancelling an order
You can cancel an order for free at any time before the daily cut-off shown when you ordered, from your account page or by calling the shop. After cut-off your meat is on the cutting list and is prepared for you, so it can no longer be cancelled.
Because fresh meat is perishable, the 14-day cooling-off right that applies to most online purchases does not apply to it. This is set out in the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
If something is wrong
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 what you receive must be of satisfactory quality, as described, and fit for purpose. If it is not, tell us as soon as you can, and within 48 hours of delivery for anything about freshness, at [email to be confirmed] or by phone. We will do one of the following, your choice:
- replace the item on the next delivery;
- refund the item in full within 14 days — in cash at the counter, by bank transfer, or as a credit note on a trade account; or
- refund part of the price where only part of the item was affected.
We may ask for a photograph. We will not ask you to return fresh meat.
The weight is different from what I ordered
A small difference is normal, because meat is cut by hand to your order, and you pay for the weight you receive. That is not a fault. If the difference is large enough that it is not what you asked for, treat it as something wrong and tell us.
A delivery did not arrive
If we fail to deliver in the slot you booked and it is our fault, you can choose a refund or a redelivery. If nobody was available to receive it, see the terms of service for what happens.
Trade accounts
For business customers the same standards of quality apply. Agreed corrections are made by credit note against the next invoice, never by editing an invoice that has been issued.
